ABOUT US
Empowerment of the girl child is a cause close to our heart. Unfortunately, India still has a long way to go in understanding how an educated mother can change the destiny of the nation.
We were shocked into action when our house help pulled out both his daughters from school to make them work as domestic help to support the family. On the other hand, he enrolled his only son in a private school. His salary could barely afford a government school education, but he was ready to make that sacrifice for his son. Dumbfounded, we decided to do whatever we could in our own capacity, and Help Us Skill was born in December 2016.
Our goal was simple - to impart skills like English, Math, and Computer Science to underprivileged girls to make them self-sufficient even if they were unable to complete their education.
We started off as a team of 3, with classes at a rented facility. There were challenges galore, but hope, passion, and perseverance led the way resulting in collaborations with government agencies, private organizations, and like-minded individuals, all of whom joined hands to keep us forging ahead. Fortunately, we were able to extend support to underprivileged boys as well.
It has been a joy to see the children bloom and we are excited about what the future holds.
